Foreigners can own condominiums in Thailand, but you are well advised to get proper legal counsel before signing any dotted line.

I also advise you to only buy from a reputable seller, e.g., one listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

I hope the links below will help you make a decision.

You will be better off getting something in Ozland instead. It may be more troublesome for you to buy a property without local connection.

You really can't outright own land in Thailand, so your best bet is a condo. You should have a good lawyer with references and never sign a contract for a condo which has not be completed and have residents moving in. Also condo's in Phuket do not run check, especially if you want beach front property. Also check on maintenance fees and you can't own the any first floor property.

I won't even think about buying a condo over here for just a visit now and then. Think about the fact you need to fly over here which is a cost over and above the condo (since you really can't own property over here). also kept in mind if you still want a condo here is to get a good lawyer and only invest in a condo that has been completed and have residences to use for references.
