What is the restrictions on taking ciggerttes and alcohol overseas?

I'm flying with thai airways in June 2008 going to bangkok 2nights then Phuket 8 nights, want to buy duty free alcohol and cigerttes from sydney airport to take with me was only planning on taking carry on luggage is this possible? If not what about check-in luggage? There is 5 of us going 2 adults and 3 children ages 17 and 16 can they carry any of those in their luggage? And the same with arrivals? Please help :-)

The rule of thumb is passengers are allowed to bring in 200 sticks of cigs and 1 litre alcohol per person, which is deemed reasonable for personal consumption. Leave them in the duty-- free plastic bags and hand carry is the easiest way. Internal/domestic flights dont restrict and when you head out to Phuket just take them in your luggage. When you finally depart for home you have to abide by the arrival country's custom laws so check out Aus allowance beforehand. Happy holidays.

Go ahead bring all you want. Customs are not strict in Bangkok. Plus, they also have duty free there so you got no problem. You will only encounter problem if you go to Singapore. They have strict rules against tobacco there.

What is the best time of year to travel to Thailand and Cambodia?

We are planning a 10 day vacation to Thailand/Cambodia. Our two options are July - Aug period or the December timeframe. The primary focus of the trip will be to do fieldwork on temples and architecture, but we would also like to do some vacationing in Phuket in the process. Any advice on travelling to Thailand and Cambodia would be appreciated.

I have to disagree with the other answers. I go to Thailand 2 -3 times a year and if you are interested in temples and architecture and not battle growds of tourists - go in the summer. Just deal with the heat (you get used to it) and enjoy having the most wonderful temples almost to yourself! I was in Siem Reap last year in July and frequently was the only person visiting some of the Anghor sites - it was magical and otherworldly. And vacationing in the islands is cheaper and not as crowded - high season is just not fun if you want to really have some time in the field. Enjoy your trip - it is a lovely region.

i agree, i was in thailand in november during their "cool" season, it was still about 90 degrees but it did not rain once and perfect weather for the beach!

November to February is the best time to visit the Thailand. The weather is typically mild and pleasant then. It's usually hot from March to May, and then rainy from June through October.

What is the best time of year to travel to Thailand?

I am planning a trip to Thailand during the last week of July. Some websites I've read say that this is during the rainy season. Is this a bad time to go? I will be mainly spending time in Bangkok and Phuket.

November is nice. Loy Kratong festival is held then too. Worth seeing.

Cheers :-)

23 & 24 November 2007. Have fun. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20070423011031AA9dBNg&kid=JIIqHTLVN25kI8xQ5afK&s=comm&date=2007-04-24+00%3A28%3A05&.crumb=

why not?

i love rainy season.

you will get a change to see one of the biggest rain you ever seen in your life.

and do not forget the thunder which can shake you whenever it go off.

but it will never go on more than 45 mins. (from what i have seen and i am not talking about typhoon.)

usually only 20-30 mins, 1 time a day or 2, and every thing will back to normal.

I just went last march, it was pretty gd at bangkok. no raining cats & dogs. Last july my frens did went there isnt much clothings as they r clearing all old stuffs... etc.

Yes, the rainy period is not recommended. If you're in Bangkok, parts of the city may get flooded due to the poor drainage system. November and December is the best time to visit Thailand as it is cooler then.

Be ready for rain in July. I went to Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai last March 2007, the weather was really hot and humid. They say that Thailand is best from November until February where its a lot cooler.

Can only speak for Phuket: July might be rainy but not all the time and on top it's still very warm. But on certain beaches like Karon you shouldn't go swimming due to heavy waves. The first time I came here (also July) i only experienced a few showers which lasted only approx. 2 hours.

It may be raining but any time is still a good time to travel to Thailand.

Basically, for both cities, November to May is the dry season and the rest of the year is wet.

yes July is during the rainy season, you could get dumped on at least once a day usually in the early evening. This is what the tourist industrial calls it low season and prices are low the high season is November Thur January, prices are higher but less change of rain if any at all.

It is the rainy season but its still the best time to go. It pisses down for about one hour a day but its still baking hot over 30 c. Also its the low season, everything is much cheaper then, gee i love Phuket man,and Thailand ,been 7 times, gorgeous gorgeous girls.

How much does it cost to travel around Tahiti?

My boyfriend and I want to go on a vacation and we were deciding between Phuket and Tahiti. Is it expensive to stay in a decent hotel in Bora Bora? We also want to go jet skiing, check out the nightlife, restaurants, etc. We're in our mid 20's, Is Bora Bora a good place to go without paying tons to enjoy it? Any other suggestions for a fun & relaxing vacation? I think we want to spend no more than around $3K each.

Hi there,

I'm a native from Tahiti so i can give you some advice on that. First of all, you must know that Tahiti or Bora-Bora are very expensive places to go but with $6K, you can do it!

Assuming you're staying for 5 days, only in Tahiti while doing all the activities you've mentioned (jet skiing, check out the nightlife, restaurants, etc), then you'll be able to save money and have some really good time while staying at a 4 stars hotel. IF you really want to spend quality time in Bora-Bora, then you might want to consider staying at a "pension" rather than a hotel. it's cheaper but you'll have the same quality offered as if you were in a 5 stars hotel.

Bora-Bora doesn't have lots of fine restaurants except in hotels but Tahiti does (mostly in downtown Papeete). On the contrary, beaches in Bora-Bora can't be compared to the beaches in Tahiti.

good luck!

How much does it cost a day to eat in Thailand?

I'm going on my first trip to Thailand in November and have no idea what to expect as far as prices for eating a day. How much should I budget a day for food for two people? I'll be staying in Bangkok and Phuket. Does anyone have any reccomendations of good food at cheap prices?

it depends on your taste and if you can handle hot peppers and if you know enough Thai to order food from a vendor stall. if you can your only pay about 40 baht a dish. You can order without hot peppers also if it's not pre made food. However eating western food in a hotel will cost more but still cheaper then in the USA. i would say about $5 to $8 dollars per person. You may also find some small Thai restaurant that have English menus, again the price will be a little higher then a small Thai stand. My point is food will be cheaper it just depends on your taste how much cheaper.

a noodle dish is 30 baht only

You don't need this answer now but you will later: Imodium can be purchased from the main pharmacies (Watsons and Boots) and well as from the supermarkets that have pharmacies in them - Tops & Tesco-Lotus. Normal price = Baht 30 for 4 tablets - about a US 1dollar. There is nothing wrong with the local food (in my experience), its just that your body won't be used to the local bacteria. It took about about 2 years before I stopped getting sick in which time I became accustomed to having a supply of Imodium close to hand, just in case. The more local food you buy the more likely you are to get ill with this. Your chances are better the higher up the quality spectrum you go - although no guarantees even then. Reckon spending Baht500 a day each (about US$15 I think - not including drinks) to get decent quality meals or else you are liable to miss your vacation as you'll be spending most of your time bent over the toilet becoming very familiar with the floor in your hotel bathroom.

cheap cheap hehe

you can catch the street vendors for less than a dollar a meal. water is about 5 baht a bottle (500ml). The meals around KhoaSan Rd are fairly cheap.

Four dollars and twenty-two cents per day.

It depends on your style.

If simple as other Thai people, the cost about 30-40 baht only (about 1 dollar a little bit more â€" 1 USD = 36 baht approx.)

If you would like to take fast food, the normal set per 2 people cost about 200-300 baht. (6-9 USD)

For hotel , good restaurant. About 500-1000 baht.

I think the suitable place for foreigner to eat mostly in good restaurant and hotel. You must better prepare the budget around 20 USD per each per day

Eat like a local, I've got by on as little 300b a day! Ok its not too everyones taste (thai food ) but give it a try. Look for a vender who is constantly busy doing the "locals" and remmember the phases that were posted before this one.

PS

Try the grasshopper things, you'll be surppised!

You can find 10 baht per dish in Thailand too.

But you have to eat about 4 dishes to full your stomach :D.

The normal rate of local food shop is about 25 - 40 baht. with can full thai people's stomach. But i think for foreigner, they should eat more dishes because the quantity per dish is not the same to your country. (You serve a lot more than our country !!)

Like in any country if you can learn to live like the locals a couple of bucks a day ,but if you eat like Americans are use to it could cost twenty dollars or more a day.

I am working in Phuket for about more than 2 years now so I'll be more than happy to recommend for Phuket side.

However, generally dining in Thailand is cheap if you are dining from local stalls. Food is clean enough. I've dined by roadside stalls and don't have too much problem.

One bowl of noodles cost abt 25 Baht (1 USD = THB 38 approx), one plate of rice with a side dish costs about 25 - 35 Baht. Do tell the vendor "mai phet" (not spicy) if you cannot take spicy, or if you want to try, tell him "mai phet mark" (not too spicy) esp if it's your first try of spicy food. Drinks lots of bottled water.

A nice air-conditioned cafe around costs about 60 - 70 Baht per dish. And I don't mean international restaurants like MacDonalds, though a burger set from either KFC or MacDonalds goes abt 99 - 129 Baht per set. Try local hit restaurants like MK Restaurant (they have steamboat / suki - where you dump all the raw ingredients into a hot pot, wait for it to boil and dine from it - it's delicious!) which should cost about 300 - 500 Baht for 2. Do order the roasted duck there, it's great. Try also cafes like Black Canyon, which serve local fare from about 70 - 80 Baht per dish.

You can find food everywhere in Thailand, so not to worry.

In Phuket, you must try this famous seafood restaurant called Laem Hin Seafood Restaurant (most taxi drivers should know). It's down a rather secluded lane at first, but you'll emerge by the seaside onto a wooden structure that is the restaurant. Freshest and cheapest seafood here. Soft shelled crab fried w garlic is great, order boiled crab to eat with the seafood chili, order Thod Maan Goong (fried shrimp cake), a whole fish boiled in lemon sauce etc. It should be about 300 - 400 Baht per person, if you don't over-order.

Another place to dine is the food street near Ocean Robinson's in Phuket Town. It's a whole street full of food, from Chicken Rice to order your own Thai dishes to eat w rice. Chicken Rice is 25 - 30 Baht per plate, dishes cost about 60 Baht for an entire dish, rice is about 5 Baht per plate. Lots of choice there. If you are staying at Patong, the street opposite Royal Paradise Hotel is lined with seafood restaurants as well.

Hope this is enough information to start off for you.

Average Meal Prices:

Low = Bht 25-100 , Mid = Bht 100-200, High = Bht 200-500.

- Arawy (Budget) Banglamphu (Delicious Veggies),

Check this website. It's very helpful for travellers. Good luck! (- -,)

Stay in hotel that offers free breakfast, lunch will run you around 100-300 Baht, dinner can go up if you eat lobster and order cocktails, it's okay to buy a bottle and take with you. Booze is my biggest expense more than butterfly.

I really like eating at PHUKET THAI. Do you?

not as much as i like eating at the vietnamese restaurant Pho King.

OMG i love that dish!!

how do you pronounce it?

Guess who was suspended from Phuket?

The Viking Emperor. Wow, I'm getting sick of having my questions deleted. Perhaps we should move to a different section and have it so only our contacts can look at our questions? (so it say's that it's private on our profile, which would cut down on the people who report us actually finding us)

Or should we just be bull-headed and keep posting here?

Umm, favorite band....oops, I mean brand....of Black Metal?

Yeah, this is ridiculous, the whole time that we have been here I have not seen a single legitimate dining question...I guess we need to spread to different places and keep infecting them until we get our section!

When dining in Phuket and in the mood for Black metal, I like to dine at Burzum and Darkthrone.

The thing is mate, you are in wrong section. This is dining out in Phuket. Personally I agree Y%A should have a metal section, I never turned you in but always felt sad that the music section didn't quite satisfy you. You will never see peace in a wrong section, I know from experience. Some of the vietnam vets and I were in Vietnam a few years ago and we were always harassed.Section, dining out that is. I wish you well.

Who knew so many people lived in phuket and actually cared enough about food to start posting here quite frankly i think we should stay if we get suspended or our answers and question get thrown away we should stay just to tell yahoo Answers to make us a phuking section...not to mention this is the only place i can say phuk that's relevant.

I'm not alot into the Black genre but uh Dark hole black metal I mean that's gotta be black no light in a dark hole

Wait King Diamond/Merciful Fate is black? Then whatever brand of black metal they are.

I wish there was a punk section excluding the likes of fans who like the ramones, sex pistols, greenday, rise against, escape the fate, slipNOT, corn, DK etc, you know stuff thats so old and now boring.

I never see posting for the current hc punk scene, just the same old **** as if it was new material (meaning the ramones, dk, blah, blah blah)...

nothing relating to your question but thats how I feel...

Wow, that's just ridiculous. Seriously, there was an average of like 1 question per month here, what's the harm of us taking it over? It's like taking away a toy from a baby. They aren't playing with it, but they'll still cry and b*tch when it's taken away.

MQ: Melodic Black Metal, such as Old Man's Child and Naglfar.

I second Suite-Pee's suggestion.

Starting a post in one of these Yahoo Suggestion Forums or some such and having enough votes might just do us all some good...

...and then some advertising would get the people you need.

How about that?

MQ: Atmospheric Black Metal. Some of the most beautiful stuff I've ever heard.

Damn... that sucks. I'm surprised I didn't get suspended for posting so much questions (though most of them got deleted).

I think we should move. We'll just keep getting reported if we keep posting. So let's try to find another deserted section.

Black metal brand? Extreme black metal.

Gotta go with the originals Venom(I really tried to get into Possessed-it just they had such bad production.)

Venom had a great sound(Yeah they may have sucked live).

And of course-King Diamond/Merciful Fate. His voice is still haunting.

Long Live the King.

I saw that one coming, sorry I didn't go down with the ship.

Early Black Metal like Venom

you

It's not fair, is it? If only they would give us a metal section then we wouldn't need to keep posting in "inappropriate" sections. How many times do we have to make this point? And how sad would you have to be to constantly report us? We're not doing any harm, and no one ever used this section anyway. It's just immature people.

I think it's a good idea to only allow contacts to see our questions, it may stop people from constantly reporting us. Is there any way of contacting Y!A to ask them for our own section? Perhaps if we all did it on mass then they would actually listen. It might be worth a try.

My favourite brand of black metal is ambient black metal. It's actually my favourite genre of music full stop. I know it's not that popular with the purists, as it can be quite tuneful (Shock! Horror!) but I absolutely love the stuff. I love the combination of extreme brutality with beauty.

At the moment I'm listening to Mayhem's 'Live in Leipzig' live album and drooling over how sexy Dead sounds. Yes I know I'm sick...

EDIT: It is actually really difficult to type when you have a cat sitting on your lap. Just thought I'd share that with you all.

YOU!? After all you're like the biggest contributor here. I say we could move but then we'd just end up getting the same treatment there. I think that if we stay then they'll soon give up.

Favourite Black Metal: Carpathian Forest. Gorgoroth was my #1 but CF is more fun in some songs but in others can be just as "black" as any band.

Convenient travel from bangkok to phuket?

i could fly but if it would be much more cheaper for 4 of us ( 2 kids - so it should be easy ) to go by train, please give me the train schedule and cost.

Maybe bus schedule as well

thanks

Sorry but no train goes directly to Phuket. If you want you can take a bus from the southern bus station called in Thai Sai Die Mai, or get with a travel agent when you arrive in Thailand they will set it up for you. Cost from the southern bus station to Phuket is about 900 baht give or take, it will take about 12 hours. If you take the VIP bus at night 24 or 32 passenger you will arrive the next morning.

there are low costs airlines than fly, www.airasia.com and www.tigerairways.com www.nokair.com

I think Air Asia is best, this is cheap about 60 GBP return although you can get cheaper by train / bus it is the time it takes the kids to get board.

There are very frequent buses, I think. Check the website of Phuket tourism.

Nice Bungalows in Phuket?

I am traveling from Bangkok to Phuket and i would like a recommendation on nice bungalows directly on the beach. I have this image (From Bidget Jones Diary:Edge of Reason) of a really traditional looking bungalow by the beach. If you know about anything similar to this please recommend. Thank you

Jessica if you find some really cool bungalow like you can you please share it with me after your trip?

The quieter beaches in the north west of Phuket are more likely to have

An authentic rustic Thai style accommodation .

Google a map of Phuket beaches and look at the photos that come up of the different beaches on the west coast .

Ko Pi Pi is an Island off the east coast which is more layed back than the main part of the Phuket Peninsula . You will have to take a ferry there several hours , , , very popular for diving and natural beauty , no surf though as it is in sheltered water .

Get a Guide Book on the area and learn all you need , with many important tips to make for a richer safer experience.

Not sure in Phuket, but in Koh Samui there is a place called Als huts.... Really cool.

Phuket, What is Your Opinion On Dean Guitars?

What would you tell me about them from any standpoint. How do they fit in with th rest?

What do you think of this guitar particularly?

Dean Dime Stealth Two Tone

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220434250789&viewitem=&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2&category=41435&salenotsupported

Thanks, I appreciate it

imo dean guitars always look inpressive, but i would never again consider buying one again. I bought a 1400 Razorback 7 string...it was a horror story guitar. i mean, the wood was obviously very cheap and light, making the neck heavier and setting it off balance (with the truss rod and all). Also the paint job chipped so badly. Every other guitar i have owned i have treated it the same way and none of them are chipped. the paint job overall was messy as well. The only plus to the guitar was the action. if you pulled the floyd rose all the way back you had the worlds best action.

and that is just starting the problems. almost everything that can go wrong with a guitar went wrong. and you'd think maybe it was a fluke. no. i returned one saying it was f-ed up and they sent me another. i had all the same problems.

The rhythm guitarist in my band has a dean as well. I don't know how he can stand the thing at all. The only reason he still has it is because it has no resale value and he cant afford to get a new guitar nowadays. His guitar was around 7-800 dollars i believe. he brought it into a pawn shop to see what they would take it for and the guy laughed.

long story short, if you want a guitar that will last you more than 8 months, don't get a dean. Unless its the rusty cooley sig. ive only heard good about his sig guitar...then again its like 4000 dollars.

I strongly recommend ESP. I use their guitars and they are great. Or, for a more budget person, try Agile guitars.

Deans are GREAT guitars! they play smoothly and they sound great. the razorback u posted is a really great guitar.

theres a reason dimebag, dave mustaine, michael angelo batio, rusty cooley, and zakk wylde use dean, because they're the best guitars for the best guiarists!

They are very good guitars, and like the first guy said, lots of great guitarists use/used them, and i like them. lots of people say they are unreliable, but i've never had a problem with them. i do prefer ESP though.

nice guitar in the link

i love dean guitars they play and sound great my only beef with them is in my opnion some of the more extreme ones are to extreme, to bulky and big, like a bc rich but, they play real nice and sound great

deans are awsome! that guitar looks awsome too. im this guitar.

I wanna go to phuket in june... which beach is the best place to stay?

as i was inform that in june the weather might not be good and raining and some beach gonna be really bad...

Patong Beach - the largest beach resort, known for its nightlife

you can find at...http://apartmentsbangkok.blogspot.com/

i hope useful. :)

I would suggest Patong beach or Nai Yang beach.

Have a nice holiday in Phuket.

there so many beaches in phuket

Phuket versus ko samui - which is better in Thailand?

What the pro's and con's of each island?

Well Phuket itself is a city and resorts in the same place. If my memory serves me correctly, it's bigger than Singapore.

Well both islands have its own airport, with Phuket an international one. Both has golf courses: Phuket has a world renowned Blue Canyon that organised the Johnny Walker Classic several times and Tiger Woods played and won there once.

To me Samui is more of a lay back lazy atmosphere island that offer serenity, isolation and added refreshment to my heart and soul more than Phuket. The beaches in Samui are not as steep as Phuket and can be swim in most of the time, while some of Phuket’s beaches could be dangerous to swim in as the tides pull you out to the sea.

In all, may be bias by the fond memories I had, I’m much prefer Samui to Phuket any time.

Phuket is better!

I do select Phuket

But if someone ask me about Phuket versus Krabi

I like Krabi , coz it's so vergin than phuket ^_^

Has anyone ever heard of the baseball player Kirby Phuket, i think he is from there?

He played for the Minnesota Twins during the 80's through the mid-90's. I think something happened to his eyes He died a couple of years ago.. You can probably Google him and find out more. BTW, his name is spelled "Puckett"

From where? The late, great Kirby Puckett played for the Minnesota Twins.

He is from Phuket, they named the island after him, but like most things over here, they misspelled his name

Yeah Yeah Kirby Puckett he used to play with Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. Har Har har ha h

Are there shops in Phuket, Thailand where you can buy Nintendo Wii, PSP, X-Box and etc...?

These electronics are not any cheaper in Thailand, in fact may be slightly more expensive..

In Thailand the currency is the Thai baht and there about THB 32 to the 1 US $ at moment

As an example bought a Sony PSP a few weeks ago in Thailand for THB8500 which is around US$ 265

I think you got the conversion wrong. 1 Malaysian ringgit is about 10 baht and 1 USD is about 33 baht. You need to rework your computation.

If you would like to buy the above items, I suggest it would be better to buy in Japan. Either way, I don't think buying such electronic gadgets were written in English.

One advantage in terms of electronic gadgets, Japan have them first for at least a year or so before even coming to the U.S. market.

There's a shop in the Ocean plaza on Bangla road. There are also a ton of small shops that will sell Nintendo DS and possibly PSP in stalls along the roads.

It's not cheap in Thailand. It's more expensive than U.S. And no refunds.

However, the Wii and the XBox 360 are chipped which means you can play copied games. Also, Nintendo DS games are widely available. THAT'S where the bargains are. The hardware itself is 20-40% more expensive.

If you find my info useful, give me a "best answer".

thanks!

If you want good prices for games and consoles and accessories for wii's, check out this store.

http://nintendo-wii.nezlo.com/

I think you can buy from Amazon but you stay in thailand is high shipping fee

Central Festival Phuket on the same level as Power Buy has a shop, and Jungcyleon in Patong on the same level as SF Cinema has a shop. These are the only places that I know of that sells the systems. But beware when buying them, they are mostly likely modified to play pirated games so there probably is no warranty. Also some of the accessories are fake although they look like the real thing.

A warning, once you buy it, you CAN NOT return or exchange it, even if its defective.

I think you better off buying it in the US instead.

I wanna go to phuket in june... which beach is the best place to stay?

as i was inform that in june the weather might not be good and raining and some beach gonna be really bad...

Phuket is hot and humid throughout the year. The high season is generally considered to be from November to May. During the summer monsoon season, mornings and afternoons are still sunny and clear, but it tends to rain in the evenings and water clarity goes down. Locals consider May to October the "cool" season, and the weather is quite tolerable, much more so than in the tourism centers around the Gulf coast. It's comparable to Florida's summer weather in temperature and intensity of rain storms: 25-33 deg C, flying clouds, short and thunderous rainfalls in the afternoons and evenings. Surfing is possible off the western beaches.

Phuket beaches from north to south are:

Mai Khao (Sai Kaeo) - near the airport, very quiet (aside from the planes!) and far away from it all

Nai Thon and Nai Yang - two quiet beaches in Sirinat National Park

Bang Thao (Laguna Beach) - long, very quiet beach

Surin and Pansea Beach - an up-and-coming upmarket destination

Laem Sing - small bay with stunning views, between Kamala Beach and Surin Beach

Kamala Beach - a quieter beach to the north of Patong

Kalim Beach - a series of small beaches just to the north of Patong

Patong Beach - the largest beach resort, known for its nightlife

Karon and Karon Noi Beaches - the second most-developed beach after Patong

Kata Yai Beach - busy, clean tourist beach with good surf

Kata Noi Beach - quieter sister of Kata Yai

Nai Han and Ao Sen - a quiet beach (probably the best) in the south, near Phromthep Cape view point

Ya Nui Beach

Rawai, Mittraphap and Laem Ka - set off point for lots of local islands, popular with locals for eating on the beach

Cape Panwa - home to Phuket Aquarium

I'm having a Phuket partay. Can anyone share some delicious Phuketan recipes with me please?

If it contains beanus I don't mind. All the better to quench my appetite with.

I love Phuket recipes! My specialty is braised beanus with my special Phuken sauce..yummY!

Excuse me miss Emily, but I would prefer it if you referred to me people as Thai, thank you very much!

Good luck and I hope this helps!

ohhhh...i will email you my favorite...beanus cream pie!!! my phucken favorite!!

This question is stupid and your phucken nuts.

Small Query's regarding Phuket? Can Any one help me please?

Where can i buy Good clothing (ments T-shirts , Jeans , Male Thongs (innerwear of men) etc......in Phuket? Which would be the best time to visit to phuket ? What are the Secluded beaches around phuket ? is it safe to go to secluded beaches around Phuket ?

You can buy cheap clothes at the markets or shopping centres. Most items are quite good quality for the price. There are also many tailor shops that will make a suit for around 3000 baht. It may be difficult to find shoes if you have big feet, since the largest size many places stock is about a 42. The beaches are safe in the daytime, but I wouldnt hang around at night by myself. It's warm all year round, the high season is from November to April, this is when its busiest with foreigners and prices go up compared to the low season.

Secluded beaches, alone, not recommended! Phuket ok, the year round, except monsoons! Limited shopping potential, as in any tourist place!

I think by your budget, you can stay in hotels or some resorts in Thailand. cuz if you see rate from this website http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Hotels%20Map%20Pages/Phuket%20Map/Phuket%20City%20Center%20Hotel%20Location%20Map.html and plus with your 3 meals a day... I think it is surely still in your budget ...have a nice trip

Hi I also have a question do you know how much to live in Thailand and what is the first thing to do to live in Thailand and how much money in U.S dollar should I live in Thailand.

I want somewhere with a good exchange rate or in other words overseas and cheap like Fiji or Phuket??? what do you think you be a good destination. We are travelling in April so what will the wheather be like?

Been to Fiji and Hawaii - eleven times, Kauai the last six.

Princeville, Kauai. Perfect for a honeymoon. Look up Pali Ke Kua. Also click on the Sheraton Princeville webcam.

Won't reget it. Good luck.

P.S. Princeville is between the high seventies and low eighties all year.

Fiji

I did Hawaii--isle of Kuaii, Maui, and Oahu--I loved it--I'm from NY--I didn't want to be on a plane longer than that trip. Was there in April for 2 weeks--75-80 weather couldn't have been more perfect--we stayed at the Hyatt on Kuaii just beautiful--good luck!!!!!!!!!!

1. Hawaii

2. Fiji

3. Phuket --- I have been to Phuket twice and it is a nice place but cannot be compared to the other two places :~)

Fiji

I honeymooned in Fiji in 2006, the best!!!

Phuket from november-january?

I got a few quick questions, i'd really appreciate the help!^^

Will everything be overpriced and expensive in Phuket during those months? (transportation/food/drinks/shopping)

Will I have a hard time finding an aparment to stay in during those months?(ill be looking for an apartment, not a hotel)

I know hotels will be expensive, but how about apartments?

thanks!!!!!

Yes, yes, and yes. Why Phuket? Ao Nang Beach in the Krabi area gives you access to the same islands, far cheaper, I like better; and you can still take a boat over to Phuket for a day or more. Koh Chang is Nice, much cheaper.

OR, Pattaya, no matter what you have heard has WONDERFUL places available (2 bd 2 bath HOUSES) for 12, 000 a month, if you rent a car and 15 minutes from beaches and away from the sleaze of downtown. That's why Pattaya is now the second largest city in Thailand....he has more than bars and go-go people.

Now may be too late But still looking for there would recommend at Katina Hotel , there are good location for any transportation/food/drinks/shopping) and now have pro Free Shutter Bus Services to Robinson and Central Department stores

... have fun ..at Phuket ... ..

Is it legal to smoke weed in phuket?

Of course you can. No problem.

Smoking weed doing drugs and the local " magic mushroom " is illegal . The worst is the fine and very heavy jail terms . Not worth cause you will spend a very long time at Bangkok Hilton

Be very careful of scams offering these esp magic mushroom because there is a scam where the seller quickly alerts the police and they suddenly frisk you to find the offending material . Then you offered to " settle " at 50000 B ... not worth at all mate

Yes. Smoking seaweed is perfectly legal. I wouldn't know why you want to, but that is not my business.

Smoking marijuana is a different matter. That is not legal.

weed is Illigal in Thailand...and can result in hefty fine/jail

In some places the police turn a blind eye and in other places they will request large sums of money or your off to jail...

i saw a guy get busted on patong beach with just one smoke he copped a trip to jail a hefty fine and banned for life to go to thailand you can smoke pasparlin thou

confirm

http://spa-thai-guide.blogspot.com/

It's as legal to smoke weed in Phuket as it is in Bangkok.

dude you must have been stoned when you posted this question!!

is it legal to smoke on a beach in your country!!!

It is illegal and the Thai prisons are not known for their comfort

Yes. they will sell it to you on the beach and then confiscate it 3 min later

It is illegal but many people do.

prepare to meet Mr Big in the showers or pay 100,000 baht to the police benevolent fund

When in Phuket, do you.......sample....the flavors.....of many different foods?

I prefer an all you can eat buffet

I've got this huge hankering to try some goat dishes..

Not sure why...

Of course, I've been thinking today that perhaps a feed of frog's...legs might please me too.

;)

yeah i like the appetizers fine but the main course of babygoat leaves me licking my fingers.

Yes I do. there is this really cool restaurant called *** Mi. It won't let me post the link so just google the image.

I've heard the seafood is awesome

I sample all then circle around for seconds.

why all the phuket Q's. I am not impressed or moved, cause I am out of the lope, loser.

Yes but watch out for the craps. The stink

When in Rome do as the Romans do

When in Phuket do as the Phuketians do…

What's the best beach in Phuket?

Kata? Karon? Patong?

Its a tie between Kata and Karon. Patong is out because it is too commercialized. But I think Kata has a slight edge over Karon because the atmosphere there(Kata) is much more relaxed and laid back. And the scenery is more stunning with breathtaking powdery white sands everywhere.

I'd also go for Kata/Kata Noi Beach. If you feel like having a change Karon is so close by (approx. 5 Min. by Tuk-Tuk). Avoid Patong! Also recommend you to once visit the lovely Kho Racha Island. Small but great!

Karon Beach. Patong is too over-run and Kata is a little isolated. Better stretch left in Karon.

Hi. You will get information about traveling in Phuket

from http://gotravelholidays.blogspot.com

I was going to answer your questions... but awww Phuket!

Karon

Is phuket good place to visit and what things to do and sex is safe there?

There is a lot to do in Phuket, beaches all around, Wats to visit markets, and sex that is out of this world ,Thai women are very clean and you shower together for cleanliness and to check you body for signs of disease. You are a woman if you are looking for women you will have no problems, if you are looking for men make sure you carry a supply of condoms

and make sure the man will use ,them the showing together is a good idea. try it you will like it . Insist on safe sex no matter who your partner is.

Good Luck and have fun

It was a great place before the tsunami hit it, as well as Ko Phi Phi (a beautiful little island). I know they both got wiped out by the tsunami. Since they were both key tourist attractions I imagine they have been fixed up, at least for the most part, by now.

Safe sex is always safe and unsafe sex is never safe. Protect your lover--wear a rubber. Have a good trip.

Phuket is an island rexort, with fine and lovely beaches and islands, beside theme parks and visiting. Ther ecan be plenty to do if you are into open sea diving too.

As for sex, no guarantee unless you know your partner well. You are literally playing with a loaded gun.

The only safe sex is the DIY kind.

Phuket is a tourist center. If you want to be part of a crowd, then that is a good place to visit.

I liked it 10-15 years ago, but haven't bothered staying over night there for years now. For me, a day-trip driving back-and-forth over the bridge is enough to have the hordes of sun-burned tourists and local touts irritate the ... out of me.

Courses for horses etc

It sounds like you plan to go to Phuket for s.x and you'll find a large such service industry in Patong and Karon - the main tourist destinations on Phuket - but whether it is safe .... well, no more or no less than elsewhere were plane-loads of s.x tourists come and do their thing.

sex is always safe in phuket......there is a magic aura around the island that keeps std's,hep and hiv in a secret locker only medical experts know about

Phuket is a fantastic place to visit, just don't be as silly as your question implies

Sex is as safe as it is anywhere else. Remember just because someone looks healthy doesnt imply they dont gota bug or something. Yes the country is beautiful to explore awesome beaches.

frickles before you screw someone....take care of safety babe you dont wanna an thai gigolo share his std with you...aids is rampant in asia....

Phuket is a great place to visit but I prefere to go there in June and not in high season. I think high season should just about winding down. October is very rainy then November December the season is again in full swing.

Anyway as to your other question. Safe yes, STD's yes only not the end of the world. Make sure you use condoms and you will have to insist on this.

Sex there is like Russian roulette, the beaches are nice

What is the weather like in Phuket, thailand this week?

Max needs to check his seasons. It's the dry season right now, it's hot and dry with maybe a shower now and then, but nothing much. don't be concern about the weather just come and have your fun.

Coming into the wet season so it will rain most days, but not for long. It will be very hot, humid and will rain HARD for an hour or two, then be hot again

Check the link- youre in for some thunderstorms. (theyre amazing in the tropics! and the rain is so warm so dont be put off)

EDIT I was off on rainy season time- its not for a month or so, till may. Check the forecast (in the link) though, it is thunderstormy all week

Be A Utifull. You won't want to leave

Will be traveling to Bangkok then taking a roundtrip flight to Phuket, which airport is cheaper/easier to fly?

The new Bangkok airport or the old one?

thanks

It doesn't matter, both airports are roughly the same distance from cental Bangkok and neither one is necessarily more convenient than the other. It will depend on the airline you take, Bangkok Airways and Air Asia fly out of Suvarnabhumi, Nok Air, 1,2 Go and most other domestic flights leave from Don Mueang, Thai Airways flies in and out of both airports. If you have an international connection, Suvarnabhumi will be much more convenient. Be careful of low baggage allowances and high overweight charges on the budget airlines, and although more expensive, I like Thai and Bangkok Airways the best and much prefer Nok Air over Air Asia. Have fun.

Air Asia is the budget airline, there pretty good as well! Safe.

but be prepared when they call the flight, they dont assign seats, so its a mad rush of people trying \to get on the plane first!

but hell, its cheap!

Don Maung is easier to get to, but Suvarnabhumi is cheaper to fly out of and alot farther out of the city.

Best places to go for a a male adult in phuket?

I'm a male adult but I am not for sale or rent. Also I will not love you long time.

Patong Bay Garden Resot is good location for shopping and the night life on Bangla Road. Turn right out of the hotel and go down past Subway, there is a massage place that sits behind where you book tours. This place does the best foot massage, you'll find it because they are always busy. also, they have nice pool and is close proximity to the beach!

The rooms are quite large and have a nice balcony, with more than half overlooking the pool or beach. The buffet breakfast was great and they had an amazing assortment of food to choose from including bacon, eggs, sausages and fresh fruit and danishes, plus heaps more! The staff were very friendly and unobtrusive. USD 62/night is Sep

Do you wanna buy a male adult?

Which is better phuket or kohsamui ( thailand )?

hey friends please tell me out of these two which place can we drop from our trip to thailand ? we want to stay two nights at bangkok and four nights at either phuket or kohsamui..please guide us .

I'm on Phuket right now, and was on Koh Samui last year.

The answer is Phuket.

Phuket is the largest island in Thailand and has much more of everything than Samui. The beaches are cleaner and there are much more of them than on Samui.

Phuket is the top beach destination in Thailand for a reason.

You can rent beach chairs on any tourist beach on Phuket. This is not the case on Samui's main beach, Chaweng, which is rather dirty compared to Phuket.

If you go to Phuket, I would steer clear of Patong Beach. It's pretty much a tourist ghetto with way too many people.

I would stay on one of the southern beaches, Kata or Karon. Both have a wide range of accommodations in all price ranges.

If you get tired of beaching, Phuket will have much more to offer as far as sightseeing goes than Samui.

You can check out many of the hotels on thaihotels.com.

You are all welcome to Thailand.

In my opinion, both islands are beautiful.

Phuket is the paradise of Thailand, the first holiday destination of Thailand.

Koh Samui is a hilly island, the second holiday destination of Thailand.

You may get some ideas about these two islands through my contents here below.

Have a pleasant time in Thailand.

you can visit at ..http://apartmentsbangkok.blogspot.com/ and http://gongga.flixya.com

i hope useful. :)

I was just there last year. You should g to Phuket. The oceans are really beautiful. scuba diving is amazing because the water is clear and blue.

Phuket is better if you only have 4 days.

Koh Samui is better if you have 4 weeks.

It really doesn't matter.

Both places are beautiful and have an airport.

For only 4 nights you will have an awesome time in Phuket or Koh Samui.

If you go in monsoon season go to Samui. There is a dangerous rip-tide off the west coast Phuket beaches during that time

What sports are popular in Phuket?

Can someone find out or know how many squaremeters is the JW Marriott resort in phuket?

sqm pls

From the road to the beach is 272 meters and along the beach road is approximately 553 meters so my best estimate for the Resort compound only would be 150,500 square meters.

The deluxe rooms are a minimum 47 sq. meters and the suites are 71, 98 and 340 sq. meters: http://www.phuket.com/marriott/deluxe-rooms.htm

2011.26 square meters, allthough i may be incorrect.

Does it really matter?

I'll go find my ruler and go measure it today.

Kids Club/Child friendly resort in Phuket?

I am wondering if anyone has used a great kids club or stayed at a good child friendly resort in Phuket, and can recommend something to me?

try this wesbite http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Phuket%20hotels.html it may help you as it got previous customer reviews.... click on hotel name in hotel list to see all hotel information... have a nice trip

Club Med in Kata is great for that but unfortunately quite expensive. If you can afford it it's great for the kids and the parents too - both will enjoy their holiday!

Have you ever gone to visit Phuket...?

And had to say Phuket, cause no one was there?

Yea, but I couldn't speak a word...they had to carry my drunk @ss out in a bhucket ;(

My bags were packed, I was ready to board the plane, when all of a sudden, I realized I had forgotten to pack my double DD+ extra large, breast enhancing bra (the one that makes men swoon), so I said "Phuket" and I went back home.

Nope, never, but I do want to go to Bang Cock

No, but ive been to Semen, Ohio and Mianus, Connecticut. Maybe you should go to Dildo, Newfoundland or Shiti, Mexico

There is also a Big Bone Lick State Park in Kentucky

Your hands were Thai'd, what could you do?

Best length of visit to Phuket?

Not sure how many days to stay in Phuket, what reference I have, how do I determine the duration besides my own factor like leave I have, etc

You don't give much information such as any budget restraints or how long you will be in Thailand. An overland ride to Phuket would take a long time, probably best to fly if time is a problem. There are beaches closer to Bangkok if budget is a problem.

Other cities and towns may have cheaper hotels than what you get in Phuket. Thailand is warm all over, you do not have to be at a beach to get a suntan.

You don't mention if you are a man or woman or traveling accompanied or not. Different strokes for different folks!

If you are a new tourist to Thailand I think you should spend a few days in Bangkok and then go to Phuket for a week and from there go to other places in Thailand that are not beach related! Spend the last night in Bangkok so you can do some last minute shopping and not have to worry about connecting flights canceling out or being late and you miss your flight home.

If you visit other areas of Thailand that are not necessarily "beach related" you will see things that make Thailand unique.

Some info on Phuket.

http://www.phuket.com/magazine/index.htm

http://www.phuket.com/island/10mustsee.htm

Good luck.

Depends on what you enjoy.

I would personally say 2 days. That's plenty of time to see everything because I hate places that are overrun with tourism.

If you enjoy the business that mass tourism brings, you'll love Phuket. If you want relaxation, I recommend heading north of Phuket to Khao Lak or out into the islands east of Phuket.

For sight-seeing included visiting neighbour islands a week will do but if you are a sporty type and want to relax as well you can easy add another week.

Three months.

I'd say a week:)

Phuket is the biggest island in Thailand, and there are several excellent beaches. The waters are usually clear and very good for diving. There are a lot of tourists all year round, but slightly less during low season (rainy season), from May till September.

As long as you avoid the usually crowded Patong and Karon beaches on the west coast, you can easily find remote beaches for walking, jogging, or just relaxing. There are not many sights to speak of on the island, but perhaps that makes it all so relaxed.

Two of the main attractions near Phuket are the Phi Phi Islands and the Phang Nga Bay, with the so-called James Bond Island. The name comes from The Bond film "Man with The Golden Gun" which was partly filmed on this small island. There is a good choice of organized day trips from Phuket to both the Phi Phi Islands and Phang Nga Bay.

Ocean activities are the biggest draw for tourists in Phuket. Courses and equipment are available at most major beaches for scuba diving, Snuba diving as well as snorkeling in the lagoons with coral reefs. You can find plenty of good dive sites all around Phuket (shark point, anemone reef, etc.) but there are some world class dive sites you don’t want to miss for any reason. You can join a 5 days live aboard to the Similan Islands , a natural reserve where you can spot wales sharks and manta rays. There is also the number one spot in the Andaman sea, Hin Daeng , situated just few hours of speed boat from Phuket. It is important to notice than coral reefs were left mostly untouched by the 2004 tsunami.

You can rent wind surfboards, dinghies, canoes and yachts from many locations for those interested in boating. For a more colorful adventure you can explore the limestone caverns of Phang Nga Bay on guided tours in inflatable canoes.

While scuba diving is probably one of the most popular activities in Phuket, the island also offers many opportunities for more land-oriented outdoor activities such as mountain biking through the western range of the island. Guided horseback tours are also a relaxing way to go sightseeing. Phuket also has a few beautiful golf courses that were built on the remains of the tin mines that first brought industry to the island.

Those interested in an exciting local spectator sport might enjoy checking out the Thai boxing , or "Muay Thai", at Saphan Hin stadium in Phuket Town. Boxers strike blows at and with every part of their bodies, making this a very thrilling spectator event.

I'd recommend Woraburi Phuket Resort http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Hotels%20Map%20Pages/Phuket%20Map/Karon%20&%20Kata%20Hotel%20Location%20Map.html . A nice hotel with good service. We specially recommend the rooms with pool access. That is pure luxury! Relatively cheap and great value for the money. I stay in 4 and 5 star hotels all over the world and from my perspective, this hotel was surprisingly good in every way! Great resturants next door and Massage. Fresh fruit cart on the corner.

Have a nice trip!

Is the major export in Phuket; Buckets?

Maybe they call it the Lucky Bucket Phuket Company.

Buckets of Phuckets in nantuckets.

cute. very cute!!

In phuket, will resort owners allow tent pitching along the beach?

i am thinking of bringing my tent along, is it necessary?

For a moment I was thinking of the wrong type of tent. Um, I dont think they like that but you can always call and ask. Have fun!

Awww phuket...I dont know

Ya know what I say... JUST PHUKET!

why not?

No idea, try calling before hand and ask if it's allowed.

You never know when another earthquake can strike, and cause a tsunami.

Comparison of Marriotts in Phuket?

Marriott offers two properties in Phuket: The JW Marriott Phuket Beach Resort and Spa and the Marriott Phuket Beach Club. Has anyone stayed at either or both of these? I would like to know how they compare. Thanks.

We have stayed at the JW Marriott and it is amazing. Now it is very close to the airport which is why we stayed there. We were there for 2 nights and it was wonderful. It depends on why you are wanting to stay there. There are allot of familes that stay there so of course there are kids, which was fine for us but some people may not like that. The beach is long and empty, but it is not one like would see in other locations in Phuket. The rooms are amazing and what a value for the money. However if you want white sand with amazing blue water then Pansea beach is your best bet. It is a private beach only for 2 hotels and it is a dream. We stayed there and you can't get any better. If you want to be by all the action in terms of nightlife than anything off of Patong would be your best bet. If you want a hotel close to the city but near a great beach I would choose Surin beach or Kamala.

Hope this helps! You will love phuket. For pictures of the JW go to trip advisor. And for the hotels on Pansea look up the Chedi and the Amanpuri.

Have a wonderful time.

JW Marriot is 5 stars hotel. Right?

I just drove pass it, Can't stay there, so expansive for me hehe

I support what Mr. Laelynn described above, look like he has much better knowledge of all the beaches in Phuket than some Thai like me.

I used to have a thorough facility tour at J.W. Marriott (close to airport and not too far away from golf course) prior to our seminar there and gave them thumb up for facilities, services, hospitalities. The only con is... it's a little bit far away from the city and other night life spots.

is depend on what your lifestyle want to...seem like locate of marriott phuket quite far from the centre...take about 45 mins. to reach but if you're looking for hide away rest this hotel will perfect for you. JW Marriott Phuket Beach Resort and the beach club is same locate.

I want to know what the cheapest transportation form Bangkok to Phuket train, bus or airplane what time takes?

air asia

Train is about $50. It is the cheapest.

bus is $35 but it is looooooooooooooong time. you also need to eat and that also cost money

plane is just less than $100

and you save time

There is no train directly to Phuket! Bus is the cheapest but quite long (approx. 12 hours). No problem if you have enough time.

Not too sure if a train service serves to Phuket. Bus transportation yes, but consider the travelling time - it's gonna be more than 12 hours! Many flights to Phuket direct from Bangkok, domestic and budget airlines, and they are not too expensive - within the hour and you're there!

is around 800 km, one hour with airplane.is between 50$ and 100$. depends for an airline to another. Are flights to every hour.

There is no train to Phuket as it is an island separated by the mainland. You'll have to stop at Suratthani and take a bus down, which is 8 hours plus another 2-3 hours for bus. A direct bus down takes 12 hours and cost from 700 Baht / person to 1000 Baht depending on whether you want VIP class or squeeze in with the locals. I advise going 1000 Baht for the 12 hour ride. By plane, you have many choices of budget airlines now and it's only an hour plane ride away to Phuket from Bangkok. Try Orient Air, Nok Air, Air ASia, Bangkok Airway, Thai Airway etc. Should not be more than 2500 Baht per one way.

Question about drinking water in Phuket Thailand.?

I have little kids with me and was advised not to consume any tap water but all water including water use to brush teeth should be bottled water.

May I ask , is it safe to drink the coffee and tea from the restaurant?

safe to have coffee and tea from a restaurant

drink bottled water or water from the vending machines that have reverse osmosis water.

However, be careful of getting any Thailand water in your ears if showering, it may give you severe ear infections, I have to use ear plugs when showering so I wont get an ear infection.

1x bad enough where I could not walk due to an inner ear infection, and had severe nausea and severe vertigo (loss of balance). terrible suffering, could not walk or get out of bed, constant nausea.

1x had bells palsy from an ear infection, where the ear infection pressed on the nerve that controls your face, looked like I had a stroke, took 1 month to recover. I have empathy for stroke viictims now.

the hotel pools water may be filthy even with chlorine, try and go downwind and smell the water first?

Beaches are sometimes sewerage outfalls, I know this is true in pattaya and jomthien. You have to wonder? where does the sewerage from all the people go to?

I do not swim in thailand.

I advise you that do not drink any tap water in Thailand cause it is not as clean as in Europe country. However, you don't need to worry about using it to shower, clean you face and teeth.

It would be better to buy bottle of water to drink and here is quite cheap.

You don't need to worry when you drink coffee and tea from restaurant.

If I were you I wouldn't drink tap water no where in Thailand no matter what they say. However, I do use tap water to water my mouth out and never had a problem. Drink bottle water. All hotels provide free to customers two bottle of water every day. Bottle water is very cheap here from 6 to 10 baht a bottle. Water at restaurants is not tap water (or it shouldn't be). Most restaurants have water which is delivered in large jugs.

I live in Pattaya, and we use the tap water only for showering and brushing teeth. We have 20l bottles delivered every Monday for drinking and cooking.

Of cause you can drink coffee and tea in the restaurant. because the drinking water was transfer from Mainland, and tap water only for Washing.

coffee and tea will be fine as the water is boiled. We usually take a funnel and buy 5L bottles of water and keep filling up our smaller bottles.Keep extra bottles in bathroom so kids can clean their teeth.

Coffee and tea from the restaurant is safe as it has been boiled.

Steer clear of tap water and ice however.

yes cofee and tea is fine but drinking water from a tap is a no no!

When is it the hottest part of the year in phuket?

The temperature in Phuket varies very little throughout the year. Its almost always lovely and warm! =)

March through to June is around 28/29 degrees celcius.

Whereas the rest of the year is around 26/27 degrees celcius.

What does vary greatly in Phuket is rainfall, therefore you should plan your holiday around the less rainy months.

Rainfall is highest around September & October, and then again in May. Rainfall is lowest around December through to March. April is ok also.

From this i'd suggest you go there around March or April to get the best of Phuket's weather. =)

About now. Why don't you do some research yourself?

I think it hot all year round in Phuket. But from April to May is the time when Thailand is closest to the Sun, so you figure it out.

I'm going to Bangkok , phuket and chaing mai next month any ideas good places to eat, beaches etc?

In Phuket the popular beaches are Patong Beach, Kata Beach and Karon Beach. Many hotels and restaurants overther.

In Chiang Mai, I suggest you to go "Rim Ping". Many restaurants there it's good and very romantic. Or you can go Chiang Mai Cutulral Center - you can enjoy the traditional food with Thai dancing.

In Bangkok, you can enjoy many attractive places to eat like China Town, Khosan Road, Siam Square, Sukhumvit Rd. and Silom Rd. It depend on what's kind of food you like.

you can go www.bangkok.com to checking more information about Bangkok.

Welcome to Thailand!!

get urself to pat pong in bangkok

some great table tennis matches lol

a nite at the thai boxing is mint too

patong on phuket is the dogs bollocks

all the resturants are great but defo try the street food, just dont ask wot ur eating till uve tried it

never been to chaing mai so cant help there

Cabbages & Condoms in Bangkok - good food, groovy atmosphere and special gift with the bill !!

While in Phuket, drive an hour north to Khao Lak. Get a boat to the Similan Islands. The most quiet, perfect, and beautiful place I've ever seen.

You won't be disappointed.

I was born in Chantaburi on East Coast of Thailand.

My city has many interesting places to visit if you need help when you arrive in Bangkok give me a call.I'm be glad to show off my town.Include my city in your trip.

We have beaches, waterfall, good clean food.

Call me 039 321186 or 039378136 Anytime.......Ko Is My Name....

If you can handle spicy food then finding a good place to eat at reasonable to cheap would be a snip at all the places you mentioned. If you are in Chiang Mai, there is a good seafood restaurant at the Night Market, great fish dishes and other seafood. An indication of cost - meal for 6 with 2 fish dishes, a kilo of king prawns, assortment of veggies and other seafood knocked back with generous amount of Singha beer, about 3000 Tbt (65 Euro). CM is to the north hence no beaches. Taxis/Limousines are cheap - hire one for about 1200 Tbt (25 Euro) for 9 hours with courteous English speaking drivers. Bangkok will tend to be pricier but nothing to that found in Europe, Phuket would be in between.

My uncle lives there. He likes it!

All the destinations you are heading to are pretty easy to move around and these are on the tourist routes. So tours are easy to arrange. So sightseeing can be a breeze.

As for food, go local. The Thai food has been recognised as among the best in the world. So be adventurous and enjoy your holiday.

don't miss the home industries tour in chiengmai. there are shops that demonstrate silver crafting, wood carving, silk weaving, umbrella making, lacquerware, etc. also, you may wish to take in the temple and king's summer palace on the nearby mountain called doi suthep. you can also take side tours in towns nearby to watch elephants at work and see waterfalls (there is also one of these on doi suthep). shopping for jewelry is one of the highlights of bangkok, plus the tour of the king's palace and the emerald buddah there.

lucky you !

Wow, have fun. I envy you. Food is everywhere so you won't have a hard time finding restaurants.

Day trip to Phuket from Penang ?

Is it possible to do a day trip to Phuket from Penang ? if so what is the cheapest and best way ? Thanks

it is an international flight, you have to be 2 hrs before light time and the time travelling to airport to and fro, you will be left with time to have a meal in Phuket

The airline Firefly goes between Phuket and Penang but there is only one flight per day. You could go one day and come back the next.

Best was to travel from UK to PHUKET???

looking to fly to phuket, which is the best way?

There are some international airlines that fly directly to Phuket but I think most visitors fly to Bangkok first and from there go to Phuket.

There are 2 airports that serve Bangkok. International flights usually land at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) but many local flights, within Thailand, fly out of Don Muang (DMK.)

Don't waste all of your time only at a beach. Schedule a few days in Bangkok at the beginning of your trip to get used to the time changes and heat. This way you can also see the city and take some tours. Schedule your last night in Thailand in Bangkok again so you don't have to worry about connecting flights being late and you miss your ride home.

Many travelers fly to Phuket from Bangkok but you can also take a bus or a train part of the way and switch to a bus to finish the trip. Phuket is way on the bottom of Thailand.

Don't waste your whole trip only at Phuket. Thailand is warm just about everywhere from top to botton - plenty of sunshine to even give you a tan in Chiang Mai and Bangkok!

Good luck.

gidday mate,

phuked if i know probably train hey.

LOL.

There is 2 ways to go, one is via Singapore then fly www.airasia or www.silkair.com or fly to Bangkok then fly www.airasia.com

From UK Qatar Airways are cheap to Bangkok about 450 from Manchester

In an aeroplane

The best way is to fly to BKK first then on a domestic flight to Phuket, that way you will more of a selection of flights from UK to BKK and then can pick up a cheap flight to Phuket, or travel by bus from BKK to Phuket...

Up to You

Anyone been to thailand phuket in june?? if so whats the weather like?

Anyone been to anywhere hot in the month of june? No rain...

The best time to visit Phuket is during "High Season" when it is not so humid, November to March. The average temperature is around 24ºC to 32ºC (75ºF to 89ºF).

In Phuket it rains the most in May and September/October. Remember that travelling during rain season (or "Low Season") is generally not bad, after a short period of heavy rain the sun will shine for the most part of the day. If you want to swim or dive you may avoid Phuket during June-August, there are often redflag on the beach which means it is dangerous undercurrents which make it unsafe to swim.

hi i am going on Saturday 2ND June and i don't expect much rain ,we have been to Thailand 5 times before in June and the rain has never stoped us doing anything ,i just take a small brolly .If it does rain it never lasts long anyway

some rain but never a problem.

Rain season is low season and also a season of easier bargaining!

Rain but it is always warm...

Raining till November!

The rainy season in thailand is in british/american summer months e.g. june, july, aguest. However it is still sunny and very very hot, when it rains its nice cos it cools things down a little. It often rains more at night than in the day and the rain is very localized, ive seen t be raining on one side of the road but not the other.

Its a good time to visit, its not super super unbearable hot like in april/may.

Have a good holiday.

Expect some rain, but it comes at night usually and it's hot there. Besides that, you'll be fine. I went to Phuket in late June last year for a honeymoon. I had a BLAST!!!! You must try the canoeing trips with the tours they provide there. My husband and I can't swim, but had a blast sailing out and island hoping with a canoe. It is so beautiful!!!A guide is with you through out the trip. We also went to see temples, rode elephants, and saw a snake show.Everything is very cheap. We had fresh seafood every night. You will love it! We went back last month.Enjoy your trip.

Has anyone stayed in the Sun Hill Hotel in Phuket ? & is it ok?

I haven't stayed there personally, but a friend of mine stays there whenever he goes down to Phuket from Bangkok and he raves about the good value and recommends it highly. I didn't stay there on my last trip there because I'm not thrilled about the location. My friend sure likes it though.

Phuket Hotels and Places?

Can anyone suggest me a good place for honeymooners in Phuket? Would love to know a good place to stay too.

Try Laguna Beach resort, Baiyan Tree, Amanpuri or Sri Panwa http://www.sripanwa.com/

If you really want something romantic and quiet. try Racha Island. Its really quiet and romantic. Only one hotel there called The racha i think. http://www.theracha.com/

or Trisara http://www.trisara.com/

Those I recommend are ranged to be romantic and top hotels in Phuket. You get the ocean view when you get up in the morning! awwww so romantic! Check it out and Have a great time there! :)

Go to KATA beach, it's perfect

go to Amari Coral beach resort, located right on top of a hill with its own jetty and spa , and good continental food,it provides sea facing rooms with balconies to honeymooners, and complimentary dishes and juices,

one of the best breakfast(complimentary) and dining experiences with performers flown in from las Vegas,

it overlooks Patong beach the best one in Phuket , where you can paragliding, use water scooter and also sight Star Cruise(Virgo ) or embark upon it too from there to Singapore, but i will suggest you to stay for more than 3 days in phuket, do not include a Thursday in your itinerary, watch Fantasea and walk in Bangla Road in the evening and enjoy the sights, the gem factory is a waste, and eat as much as fruits(good) and got o the top of the hill to have a bird eye view of phuket. do not venture to the beach at night just stick to patong road, the tuk tuk takes 100 Bahts for a trip to Amari which is not reasonable, try going to the beach early int he morning and rest in afternoon and stroll and eat around in the evening.

remember when in Phuket always bargain everywhere parasail, stuff shopping, they loot you and charge exorbitantly

Obviously it depends on your budget and personal taste but here is a selection of my top honeymoon hotels:

Banyan Tree Phuket - top of the range with pool villas

Andaman White Beach - secluded with great beach

Chedi Phuket - good beach, characterful

Mom Tri's Villa Royale - small, boutique

Mangosteen Resort and Spa - on top of hill with fantastic sea views

So much choice - good luck and happy honeymoon!

try this website www.kingdomthailand.com

We were recommended the Katathani hotel - it looks lovely & isn't in the busy town centre apparently - just like 10 minute ride away so your not in the hustle & bustle of it all. Haven't been there myself yet though but am hoping to soon!

(katathani.co m is the website if I remember correctly)

Any heavy metal bars or clubs in patong phuket, thailand?

Theres a place called Rock City on the Beach Road that has live heavy metal bands (link below)

Looks promising !

Rock City is your best bet, but the heavy metal bands are not as hard as most visitors like. Nice bar, though. A little pricey, but the food is good. Watch for their dog spray painted rock and city on each side roaming the streets :)

Need more info about buying luggage in phuket ie where & best type. should i just buy from home beforehand???

any help would be appreciated

Cheaper qualities you'll find in the markets but if you look for the real thing go to "Central" shopping center on Bypass rd.

Hopefully, you bring your own luggage when you travel.

If you want to buy somebody else’s luggage, then I suggest you put up posters near hotels.

yes buy it before you come here. they do have weight limits on airlines if that is your mode of travel to get here.

Phuket Hotels and Places?

Can anyone suggest me a good place for honeymooners in Phuket? Would love to know a good place to stay too.

Well if ur going on ur honeymoon, I can tell u this much..

Stay away from patong beach, a bit too wild for honeymooners..

If you really wanna treat yourself go to PhiPhi island, I asure you, you're gonna love it.

it's a 90 min boat trip from phuket and it's perfect for honeymooners.

P.s.: congrat's on the wedding

Source page may help.

Dear Honeymooners, would suggest to go to Kata Beach or Nai Harn (Patong is too "crazy" in your case) or try the lovely islands around. It also depends on your budget. Try the following web-site in order to make your choice:www.phuket-thailand-hotels.net. Good luck

How much it will cost vacation in Phuket for two weeks?

OK, why phuket - i ask becasue I started a journey (that Im still on) at phuket years ago and it was one of the most disapointing places I've been too.

Sure, i have to admit that it was the first place I saw old men "buying/renting" young Thai boys and girls (or any sort of dodgy postitution for that matter) but the place was a bit of a cesspool. If you want to see how tourism can screw up a plce go to Phuket.

I was in the cheapest place I could find (about 800 bhat) but I suppose if your in a 5 star restort It wouldn't matter - its up to what u want. Do you want a cheap (conmpared to other counrties) 5 star hotel on a beatiful beach in close proximity to a "hooker town" with all the mod cons (inc. Mcdonalds and irish theme pubs) or do you want to see some of Thailand?

Need to know if we're talkin' 5 star tent or 1/2 star hotel.

Dont worry. I really advise you to try.. it is really cheap.. As an example a round trip from bkk to phuket could be around 120.00 US dollars aprox. Of course it will depend on what class u want to travel. But anyway it is affordable. If u want there is a hotel desk info when u get to the airport. So u can just do it when u get there. Without any problem.

I haven't been to Phuket but my experience in Thailand was that you could easily get by on $30 a day. To get the best deals I would suggest you hang in Bangkok for two days. Khao San Road is the nexus of just about every backpacker in SE Asia. You will be knee deep in people who have been to Phuket and can get you aquainted with the inside scoop on fair prices, good places to stay, things to do, see who to dive with etc. Bangkok will be a little more expensive but is worth the investment. As with many other countries prices are negotiated and they will take what you are willing give.

Has anyone stayed at Millenium Resort Patong, Phuket?

Hi, going to book this hotel,, looks great and is in a prime location for everything.

Anyone been before? What was it like? Or can you recommend anywhere better, we want 5 star luxury on Patong Beach right next to all the action.

thanks xx

Millennium resort Patong is a fantastic hotel, stayed there during New Year. Its right in the middle of the infamous patong area with loads of shopping (the hotel has its own massive shopping mall), night clubs, bars, restaurants and only 5 min walk from the beach. Be sure to reserve the cabana room, as it has an opening access to the pool and a private Jacuzzi, its truly phenomenal. Enjoy

this is a great site to find the right hotel..

i didn't know where this PATONG beach is so can't help much.. i've been to Phuket & Bangkok i used this site to book a hotel..it's great

Beside Bangkok and Pattaya, Chiang Mai or Phuket?

Hi anyone can advise me either chiang mai or phuket is suitable for my friend and I which all in the earliest 20s. We are more keen into fashion shopping..clubs.. so beside bangkok which was in chaos now. Chiang Mai or Phuket? And Given your ans.. please advise places that we MUST visit when we are at there. thanks.......

As I type this the Reds are leaving Bangkok so things should be back to normal. I don't recommend Pattaya nor would I go to Chiang Mai right now being that it's the heart of the Red Shirts. Go to Bangkok and Phuket is what I would recommend.

my daughter is in Chiang Mai now having a great time, she is 22 years old. I have been twice to Chiang Mai and would recommend it as being in easy reach of mountains, waterfalls, spectacular scenery, beautifull temples (Doi Suthep being one of many worth visiting),elephant camps, hillside tribe settlements, day markets, night markets, a sunday market that includes entertainers,a canal that surrounds the town, riverside bars, boat trips, snake farms, orchid farms, and many interesting villages within one hours drive(taxis and tuk tuks are a cheap public transport) opportunity to ride horse back through countryside and yes there are clubs if that is what you want. I have never been to Phuket although I have travelled Thailand. If you want to enjoy Thai culture go to Chiang Mai.

Chaing mai and Phuket are much different! The first is mountainous and scenery with flowers and nice handicraft, silk and souvenirs whereas Phuket is an island with beaches and sea (it's a lot different than Pattaya though). Take your pick.

Sometimes you just have to say PHUKET! Did you have one of those days today?

Yes I had one of those days today and I went out to spend some money on myself.

I most certainly did

not today... but I sure had one yesterday!!

No,but i did have one of those nights on night shift.PHUKET.

Im going phuket thailand and i have $70 dollars...?

how many baht is that and what is the best thing i can buy with my money?

About 3000 Baht

120 beers at 7-11

30 T-shirts or 30 DVDs

An inexpensive cell phone and some air time

maybe 3 to 3.5 grams of gold jewlery (earrings or a buddha amulet)

4gb music device (like Ipod not Ipod)

Welcome to answers...Is this a test?? If not, I guess you've already paid for an all-inclusive vacation and you have $70 extra. Just purchase a souvenir piece to remind you of your vacation. If you don't own a digital camera, purchase a disposable and get some photos to have as keepsake.

Its roughly $2380 baht and there will be stuff you can buy, just choose your items carefully. I would shop in the towncentre as the same items are double the price around the beaches.

Wow $70. Big time spender. I guess the baht is close to 34 to the dollar so you do the math. Don't spend all that money in one place. How long are you placing to stay? A week or month? Does the $70 include round trip transportation and a place to stay?

I'm guessing you are a teen traveling with your family? If you are an adult and you've only budgeted $70 you really shouldn't be going on vacation anyway...

You can buy several nice mementos for $70. I'd recommend that.

that is 2,391.93 bahts

sorry but i dont know what you can buy, hope a helped a bit :) have a nice trip.

70$ per day then itz great but if u say 70$ per week or more worsely permonth or per year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…

Island tours from Phuket?

I will be spending 4 nights in Phuket while on my honeymoon in May 2009. It seems that my journey to Phuket will be incomplete without visiting nearby island.

So my question is: what is generally the cost per person of island tour to Phi Phi islands.

Since, I already have a hotel booking at Phuket so it can only be a day trip, I cannot stay overnight.

Thanks!

You can go by Ferry and Speed Boat but its better if u can go speed boat

speedboat trip you can visit many beautiful island such as Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don Island, Maya Bay, Viking Cave, Monkey Cave and Khai Island you can feeding fish around u and snorkeling in one day

Or if you go by ferry you will take about 2 hours from Phuket to Phi Phi Island you can see view from boat to Maya Bay on Phi Phi Leh Island then visit Viking Cave and Phi Phi Don and snorkeling point relaxing on Phi Phi Island

if you go by speedboat

Price: 1,900 Baht per person

include: land transfer round trip , speed boat round trip, snorkeling mask, life Jacket, insurance, lunch, fruite sesoning, soft drink, Island admission fees

by ferry

Price: 1,000 Baht per person

include: land transfer round trip (depend on your accommodation), round trip Ferry, snorkeling mask, life Jacket, insurance, lunch, fruite sesoning, soft drink, Island admission fees

or you can visit our website

I not sure of the cost its been awhile since I did it. But they have plenty of tours going to islands off the coast of Phuket. You can go on a snorkeling tour or swimming tour and stop at Koh Phi Phi for lunch. Check out the tours many of them to choice from.

Also remember jax you should give someone a best answer and not do what you usually do letting the question go to vote. Thanks.

Think a tour (Snorkelling and things like that around Phi Phi)was around 1500 BHT for the day.

You can do it cheaper by getting a ferry and crossing yourself, but if you want to see Phi Phi and a couple of other islands, and get home for dinner, then thats the easiest choice.

Ideal location's to stay in phuket..?

hi im after ideal locations for my girlfriend and i to stay in phuket.. we are already planning on staying at karon bach n in phuket city.. would any one be able to give me some more help on other places to stay with a budget of around $100 aus per night. tourist hot spots or secluded places. both will be good.. all ideas please..

Karon it's good , quiet place if you want real relax. They are many budget hotel there but i know one place quiet nice and clean. I don't remember the name but i still have the owner number +66816069709

But if you change your mind to stay at Pa-tong beach I knorecommendel. They have about 7 hotels around Patong beach. I went there two week ago with my boyfriend. Name "Ruenthai Guesthouse" it's new open, very nice room. They just have good promotion for first year opening. The room rate start from 1200 Thai Baht. You can also see the pictures at http://patonghotel.hi5.com or email to patongstay@lhotmail.com, We have so wonderful vacation there.

Karon beach is ok, but you walk across the beach road to get to the beach, there are quite a few good hotels that are reasonable such as Sea sand resort, Old phuket Hotel ( no, not old ). Your budget of A$100 a night is ok between mid April and october but it could be tight if before that time. Kata beach has a lot of hotels, again a short walk to the beach, and there are shops, restaurants and some bars close to that area. Sugar Palm Resort is good value for money and probably within your price range.

There is no reason to stay in 'Phuket City' which I guess you mean Phuket 'town' although interesting for a day visit if you have interest in old buildings, otherwise little else.

Patong is the busiest resort area with the most hotels, shopping, nightlife etc and plenty of reasonable price hotels. Though good only if you want a very busy place.

I think if you do not want as busy as Patong then Kata would suit you better than Karon.

You can find Australian dollar rates and recommendations from this website, the rate is changing a lot THB v AU$.

You can find more hotels in Patong but it is very busy, Kata not so many, but the Sugar Palm Kata resort is a nice hotel and very reaosnable rates.

movenpick. i stayed there 2 years ago and left me with wonderful memories. very satisfied in terms of room, service, food and overall experience. very pleased with this hotel. However since its high season at Phuket now, your budget might not be enough.

Other good ones i know of will be holiday inn and burasari. both of these are located at patong beach. check out asiarooms.com or asiatravel.com for more info and comparisons.

Enjoy your trip!
