I am a backpacker, so I would appreciate the reasonable price resorts and hostels.
Thank you so much! :-)
Here is a few links for hotel/hostels.
My advice is to get a hotel/hostel in Bangkok near the Skytrain so you can use that overhead rail service to get around town. But young travelers often head for Khao San Road area.

When you need hotel recommendations it is helpful for you to mention how much you want to spend per night - use a baht figure.
For Phuket how much do you want to spend on resort accommodations? Some are over 3000 baht per night.
Good luck.
Hi Ivan
I'm going to Phuket in January and the hotel prices at Phuket varies widely, depending on the location. By far, Patong Beach is the most expensive. The eastern side of Phuket in Phuket Town was more inexpensive. You can look here in the list of "guesthouses" in Phuket:

For me, I will stopover in Patong for one day, or skip it altogether by taking a ferry to Ao Nang, Krabi where it's less expensive.
I recommend Phukets hotels at

and Bangkok Hotels at

Good service and fast response.
Service apartment like centrepoint in bangkok is a great place but approximately 2400 bahts per night. Expensive but just too GREAT.
Cheaper place such as apartment in Rachada is cheap but far from city.
try looking up at places near BTS station. it will save quite alot,
For hostels in Bangkok, you can check a list of hostels and reviews from previous customers on hostelworld.com
I'd highly recommend HQ Hostel, Lub-D & Take a Nap as your preferred choices.
