Just one quick problem with June is that the monsoon season has started and it might be a little stormy out at sea. Nice beaches include Karon Beach (longest beach with the finest sand), Kata Beach is lovely and convenient, and both quite close to Patong where all the night actions are. Patong is convenient, but it can get a little rowdy with all the pubs and disco. Bangtao beach is also very lovely with lovely establishment called Laguna Phuket (www.lagunaphuket.com) and you literally have a village all to yourself. Safe and peaceful.
From what I know, Halal Food is available in Phuket City (Phuket muslim food) and in Patong (Arab food). Seafood here is fresh and quite cheap so if you are ok with it, seafood is a good option and available all around.
Check out asiarooms.com for your accommodation needs. They have pretty good rates in there.
All of Phuket is nice but I suggest taking a taxi to the docks and taking the boat to Kho Phi Phi. No cars and the island is beautiful and better beaches. Its only like a 45 min boat ride. Take the boat tour while on Kho Phi Phi and they take you to the lagoon that was in the movie The Beach.
Go to Kata for the beach and shopping or Nai Harn (not many shops but by 10-20 min. in a tuk-tuk (cheap taxi) you can reach any shopping aera! In Rawai there a quite a few Halal Restaurants/Snacks. And since in June prices are quite low you should find bungalows in your price range.
