cheaper in east coast road
Australia has very high sales taxes. But you can find discontinued models that are discounted very steeply. Phuket is really a small town. Many people stayed at beach resorts and prices there are sky high. If you are on a rush, buy at the airport but research the prices first. In Singapore, be prepared to bargain as fixed price tags are mostly for show.
(Singapore) Peninsular plaza - Cathay shop. The price there are quite reasonable. You might not want to get it from places like Best Denki or Courts, cos these places are meant for people who want to pay by instalment, and naturally, the price will be slighly more expensive. And further more, the salesman who will be selling the camera to you is probably just a salesman who knows nothing about photography. Shops like Cathay or Alan Photo (at Sim Lim Square and also Funnan centre) are manned by staffs who know what they are selling. However, I do come across people saying that the selling price of a same equipment might vary between a local and a foreigner. Anyway, before you make any decision, why not tell us which camera you are looking at and we can roughly tell you the price here. Just my humble opinion:)
Singapore. You can either get it from any shop in Lucky Plaza or Mustafa Center. Better choice is Mustafa as the prices are more controlled and they are less likely to over charge you cos there's price tags. Unlike like Lucky Plaza, its a verbal quotation but you can bargain there.
My advise is do your homework first. find out exactly how much is it cos you might get more then you bargained for.
good luck!!
singapore.. electronics are cheaper in singapore than in australia. should be about the same price as in phuket but not sure if its real and of good quality. singapore products are safe. but make sure the plug for charger etc is the same.
Future shop or Best Buy
